A different kind of Valentine’s getaway: Hong Kong

two-heartsHong Kong … a blend of multiple personalities and cultures, where the Chinese heritage blends with the British influences, alluring traveler from all over the world. It is one of the most culturally diverse places in the entire world and a place where your senses are attacked (in a nice way) wherever you go.

With Valentine’s Day knocking on our doors, maybe it’s time to consider something else than the cliché (and corny) destinations. Sure, Paris is the most romantic city in the entire world and many ladies would love to go there for Valentine’s Day (or on any other romantic vacation). And many of us consider Italy, Greece or Mexico equally romantic. But how about trying something different this year?

Take a look at the cheap flights from Heathrow just before Valentine’s Day. A round trip (non-stop) flight to Hong Kong starts at US$943 per person. That’s one good reason to pack your bags and try something totally different this year.

February in Hong Kong is rather cold but it’s balmy compared to the European weather at this time of the year. The average temperature stays around 15C and you won’t experience temperatures under 13C. Plus, you can kiss snow and frost good bye. The fresh temperatures and lack of humidity make for a perfect weather to spend time out and about.

Now for the accommodation part… Hong Kong is not the cheapest place to visit in Asia, but there are enough cheap hotels in Hong Kong to cater for pretty much any budget. You can find hotel rooms starting at US$74 per night and with the discounts offered you will pay US$272 for 4 nights (for two persons) in a hotel located within walking distance of the Mui Wo Ferry Pier. The restaurant’s hotel offers Chinese specialties.

It is a very good idea to do your research and know how to plan visiting Hong Kong on a budget . It doesn’t take too much of your time and with the proper information, your money will go a long way.

Thankyou for the good blog. I think winter into spring is a good time to travel as there are less travellers around and good hotel deals are easy to get.

February in Hong Kong is not cold – there is no snow. The buildings are all heated and it is a great time of year with nice weather. Sure you can’t go to one of Hong Kong’s beaches but there is plenty to do in Hong Kong.
